Likewise, I treat the messages as spam. However, I'd say once Darragh gets the chance to add the hack then it will be up to the user to turn it off.
FYI those of the 'new topic notification' fixation in phpBB during its time - it itself was a hack made by Bart (voyager) at the time. There was no default in phpBB, like there isn't in Fireboard. Bear that in mind.
Seanie.
Personally I've no use for the notifications so if they are reintroduced please make sure I can turn them off

Darragh,
If you need any help with a bit of coding etc, I'd be happy to help. Looks like you guys have a lot of requests on your plate so maybe its time that people (users) step up and start taking responsibility for the site instead of blaming the staff all the time.

I've set up a twitter account which those of you who use twitter can follow to get updates of new posts on the forum at
twitter.com/IrishAstronomy
There is a plugin for firefox that you can installed called Twitterfox ( addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5081 ) that will give you a small notification message in the corner of your browser when a new post is made.
Might be of use to some of you.

Folks - I've added a 'feature request' for the next release of Kunena/Fireboard. The way the system works is that other users must vote on the new features and ideas they would most like included... and the developers then prioritise their work based on the votes. Each user gets up to 10 votes to play with. So, the more people who cast their 10 votes for the New Topic Notification feaure the quicker it will become a reality.
Vote here: kunena.uservoice.com/pages/general/sugge...-notification-emails
Phil.
PS - to vote, click on the little orange box beside the total number of votes cast for that item. You may also want to cast your eye over the other feature suggestions and vote on them too... but you only have a total of 10 votes in total!
