Atik have announced not one, but 2 new ccd cameras for 2015. Due in early January
The
414EX is due to run alongside the hugely popular 314L+. This amazing new camera uses the newest Sony marvel, the ICX825 chip! Though it is exactly that same size and resolution as the ICX285 chip in the 314L+, the 414EX CCD utilizes the same spectacular EXview HAD CCD II™ technology that is present on CCDs used on the 428/460/490, but with the increased pixel size. Mono or colour will be available.

Utilising proven Atik electronics, this makes it the most sensitive camera Atik have ever done, with an improvement 60% higher than the 314L+ in H-alpha! This camera surpasses even the well-known KAF-3200 sensitivity wise, but with the additional advantage of having zero blooming. A true revolution for the astrophotography enthusiast!
The
4120EX is launched due to requests for a higher pixel count Series 4 camera, and again, Sony came to the rescue. The 4120EX uses the 12MP ICX834 CCD.
As this camera is expected to be used more Hyperstar systems and fast, short focal length astrographs, the Atik 4120EX is only be available in colour.
They will monitor demand for a mono version, and Im sure if demand is there, they will do one.
