It's not often that a Nova is bright enough to be visible in a wide-angle shot, but that's the case with Nova Cas 2021, or V1405 Cas as it's officially known. It has re-brightened by about 2 mags in the first week of May and is now naked-eye at 5.4. Shown here at top-right, 6 degrees from Caph. Nearly 6,000 light-years away and if I'm not wrong the brightest Nova in the northern sky since Nova Delphini 2013.

Hi Finbarr,

Very many thanks for sharing this wonderful image with us. It will certainly help me locate it when I'm next out.

Clear skies to you,

Darren.
