I was thinking around the week of November 7th or so for TAS, as its around that time when its at its 'closest'.

According to their website, AI are having a mars watch on 4th November. If we are having one, should we not aim to have ours before AI to ensure maximum publicity (please don't start an arguement just at the mention of AI)

Almost! :D

According to their website, AI are having a mars watch on 4th November. If we are having one, should we not aim to have ours before AI to ensure maximum publicity (please don't start an arguement just at the mention of AI)


I would rather see when the Moon is less affecting the event, but is at e.g. first or last quarter near to the event? Anyone know how the Moon does things around this time?

From Cartes du ciel here is the lunar time table...

Friday 14th October
Rise 17.56 pm 84% illuminated sets at 3.31
21st October
Rise 20.10 pm 86% illuminated sets at 13.10
28/29th October
Rise 4.09 am 16% illuminated sets at 17.09 pm
