"Researchers follow the Enterprise and look into warp speed"
by James Randerson, science correspondent "The Guardian" Monday November 12 2007
www.guardian.co.uk/science/2007/nov/12/s...ews.spaceexploration

"If scientists meeting for a one-day international conference next week have their way, the starship Enterprise's warp drive will no longer be the stuff of science fiction but a viable means of travelling vast distances at faster than the speed of light".

"Next Thursday, the British Interplanetary Society is bringing together physicists for a conference entitled Faster than Light: Breaking the Interstellar Distance Barrier. "The main purpose is to raise awareness of this obscure field of research within general relativity and quantum field theory and attract new and particularly young researchers to work on the technical problems," said organiser Kelvin Long".

Hold onto your seats i guess!

This would be an interesting conference. Just over a hundred years ago manned flight was still just a dream for a few die hard engineers who knew it could be done. I think faster than light travel will be possible some day.

There was a young lad name Bright.
Who could travel faster than light.
He went out one day, in a relative way.
And came back the previous night.

So, I guess the conference will be thursday and we'll have the results some time wednesday

It would indeed be interesting to hear the ideas & theories.
Everything in physics says no but who the hell knows for sure?

The 1st flight by the Wright bro's clocked up a speed of something like 13 miles per hour (if even). Now in just a hundred years we can travel many times faster then the speed of sound.

I have NO DOUBT that one day we will break the lightspeed barrier.
