Yea. The cameras run continuously at night but only save files containing meteors.
I then analyse them the following day and it can determine their velocity, what meteor
shower they belong to, etc.The data can then be combined with another station's data
of the same meteor to triangulate it more accurately and trace back its orbit into the solar system.

My 8mm camera just recorded it's 1,000th meteor of the year so far.
