coruscations attending the whole length of the luminosity, giving to the phenomena the aspect of a wrathful messenger, and not that of a tranquil body pursuing a harmless course..comet of 1680

The blue dob in the avatar is my 16" F/4.5 Meade Starfinder which i have repainted in 'oxford blue'. I use it primarily for comet hunting/observing and deep sky work.
Yes aperture is imporant, the more light graps opens up a wider range of comets to detect. However the 8" is a good size and is portable which is now my main requirement. Plus the dobsonian mount is perfect for sky sweeping, the F/6 focal ratio should give me a decent FOV without sacrificing image quality compared to 'faster scopes' and it comes with a large finder but i will also put on a telrad which i love observing with. All in all it should be a good scope for my task especially for sweeping the twlight regions close to the sun.
