forgot to say the telescope is a 4.5" newtonian with a 1.25" barrel!

Matthew,

You will need a T-Ring for the Canon. You can get that from any camera store for about 10-15euro. The other thing you will need is a T-thread to 1.25" adaptor. Have a look at this one

AC457 - 1.25 inch standard T-mount SLR camera adaptors
here;
www.iankingimaging.com/show_products.php...ory=19&offset=10

The T-Ring screws onto the 1.25" adaptor and then the whole lot locks onto your camera like a normal lens. It will be obvious when you see it. For taking short exposures of the moon etc you can use the countdown timer to avoid vibration caused by pressing the shutter. A more convenient solution would be to get hold of the cable release for the 300D (again from a camera shop), or look at making a comuter - camera interface cable like the one here

www.dslrfocus.com/help/eoscable.htm

(or you could ask Dave Lillis to make it for you)

(BTW this thread should really be in the astrophotography forum)

Hope all this helps.

Regards and Clear Skies,

Dave.

thanks for the plug Dave. :)
I still have a number of these quick release cables available and pc cables available..

Matthew, Dave is bang on when he describes the parts you need, they are what I used in the skylux moon image last night.
Basically take out the eyepiece and slip in the camera in its place, simple as that.

Thanks Guys! The camera just arrived today! I was just wondering, i got a skylux from 'santa' and surely the camera mounted on it would make it unbalanced even with the counterwight! Also Dave did you use a diagonal taking that image? Or even the camera with the adapter would simply fall out with out a diagonal because of the shear weight of the camera! :oops:
I want to ask every question in case i do something stupid and end up breaking the camera! :(
Thanks!
