Belt Of Venus!

At 16.00 this evening i imaged the rising Earths shadow along with the belt of Venus in the NE sky...

The shadow bit I can see... you gotta explain the rest Martin! :

nice shot, capturing the Belt of Venus. I often find that it is much more prominent in the Winter months. Possibly due to the fact the Sun is so far below the local horizon and so we see the Belt climb higher in our sky.

Seanie, the Belt of Venus is what we see when the higher reaches of our atmosphere briefly continue to be illuminated by sunlight although the Sun has set for the observer. It gradually fades as the grey band of the Earth's shadow rises higher in the sky and night falls. Obviously, the Belt of Venus is seen in the eastern sky after sunset.
