I was outside comet hunting this evening when i took a break away from the eyepiece to be stunned by the sudden appearance of an Aurora in the west - north sky sector. A bright green band (dark sky underneath) 20* high and 80* long visible from 18.49 - 19.50. It stayed at its peak brightness for 11 mins before fading. Conor and i obtained a selection of images...











There will probably be futher activity tonight so keep watch!

Now it is 10* high, still 80* long but has become much more intense...
