It is the only bright "star" by the moon (bottom left) so I guess you saw Mars

nice images. With the naked eye, Mars seemed closer than that, but the proportions/distance in your picture are right!
Had a couple of glimpses tonight myself - through the binoculars, it was quite nice to see the pair. Wasn't in a position to try the 35mm camera atatched to the ETX though...
