Does your focuser have any sort of set screws or compression ring to hold eyepieces in?

Conor - that's just weird... :?:

THe small extra ring you got - does it have a thumb-screw in the side? If so, this is probably a parfocal ring and not anything to do with fitting the LPI into the focuser.

Perhaps you're missing some sort of shroud that goes around the LPI nosepiece??

Can you give us a picture of the LPI nosepiece?

Got it

oh maybe not then when I first tried it the cap would not come off so I screwed it and the outer barrel came off leaving a smaller barrel below which didnt fit.

yes same thing has happened to you pull the top of that barrel and screw the tube back on.
