As a Canadian, should I 'jibe' in?!?!
We don't all live in igloos ya know! Some of us use caribou and elf skins for shelter too!
Seriously though, where I was (Hamilton, not far south of Toronto - can see my old house on Google Earth!) we had white Christmases every year (though 2 in the last 10 were green), and in summer, average temperatures of 32C meant plenty of clear skies at night (apart from light pollution). I tel you, if Ireland's climate changed to that of Hamilton, it would be much nicer!

Good News it seems. Present indications suggest that an anti cyclone currently sitting off the north east of scotland and scandinavia will track westward over the next few days. The likely hood id that this might well form another blocking anti-cyclone over the north atlantic. Not good news if your off to spain on hols, where the jet stream could get diverted, but it is good news for us astronomers. If it works out we could well see a repeat of the conditions a couple of weeks back when we got almost a week of clear skies in a row. The down side is of course northerly winds and sub zero conditions, wintry showers and maybe a bit more snow too!!
