Inspirational stuff guys! Standards are being set and you guys are blazing a trail.
Look like the hiatus is over and Irish (amateur) Astronomy is back (or at least returning). Can the "Official Journal" be far away.
Would one of you either publish the procedure you use or a reference to it. I know I would find it very interesting - I can only assume others would also. I myself am interested in the astrometric dimention of this stuff but am only at the very early stage in my project. Long term this would be a great target to aim for.
Again - congratulations and well done - excellent stuff.

Jared - the best place to go initially is the MPC. The link below covers pretty much the whole process of astrometry and obtaining an observatory code. There's good info there on what you need and what you need to do, plus how to report results. You'll also probably need some additional software. Initially, I'd recommend Astrometrica (shareware).
Other than that, patience, perserverance and a few clear nights is all you need
MPC: cfa-www.harvard.edu/iau/info/Astrometry.html
Astrometrica: www.astrometrica.at/

Well done Eamon
How many more potential observatories do we have out there??
I certainly hope to follow suit in a few years time when the equipment and experience come. I'm also thinking of a distance learning degree in AstroPhysics to help add weight. It'll take time but theres no better time to start.
Certainly Dave and Eamon are all the inspiration you could ask for. - Thanks !!!
Cool times for Irish Astronomy ahead methinks
