Rain, rain, rain... was created by Seanie_Morris
I just heard on the radio (as we wait for a break in the weather to do some astronomy, ANY kind of astronomy), that it has rained everyday since November 10th. And the heaviest rainfall for this time of year since 1983.
Just thought I'd ad to all my fellow depressed Irish astonomers' depression!
So much for the Geminids peak tonight. You know, that means of all the major Meteor showers this year, all bar the Quadrantids have been clouded out or rained upon - but the Quadrantids had a full Moon on the night!
:x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x
It has been a bad year for meteor observing in my logbooks!
Seanie.

This is all caused by the "Icelandic Low" depression which wobbles between Ireland, Iceland and Greenland.
It is semi-permanent. It's on every second weather chart.
I call it the Earth's "Great Red Spot".
It is dumping millions of tons of water on us right now
Its been there since the Ice Age. (9,0000 year Bog Oak stems lean away from the South Westerly direction.)
Global warming might upset it hopefully.

No they were not rained out seanie, unless there has been a pernament low depression sitting over Tullamore. I among many others saw a lovely Orinids display and the Leonids, both on peak nights. Where were you?
