I know the feeling, I got my 3x barlow in the post recently, and all I've managed to do with it is look though it at the TV screen.

Well, it's changed from rain, rain, rain to fog, fog, fog. I can't remember when I last used my PST.

All I want for Xmas is 24 hours of clear skies on one of the days that I'm not working or travelling.

Santa? Please?

John

After looking at the charts for today I can't see any dramatic change in the next day or two.
Med-range isobaric charts show a High/low high/high system over us around
xmass eve/day.
With stronger winds to clear any fog I reckon a few clear nights may just happen.......but only if you really really believe!

I have noticed that these boards are beginning to turn more into Irish Weather than Irish Astronomy lately!

Dungarvan town was totally fogged out last night (and my poor parents were stuck at Cork aiport most of the day), but driving up the Clonmel road about 10pm it started to clear the higher we got. By the time we got home (Ballinamult) the skies were so beautifull and clear it was breathtaking, especially considering how foggy it's been for the last couple of days!
I have to say it was one of the best views I've had of the Milky Way in a while 8)
