Yep, that's true, I remember that during the first week of it's great appearance it was cloudy

Remember many weeks of continuous cloudy weather (that was pure fustration) before we saw that really great comet Hyakutake in 1996.

Yep,
Here we had:
Even at that the last two were through cloud gaps.
Mind you, there was plenty of solar observing possible in Sept & Oct.
