Alastair,

Some of us go to great lengths to add spikes to our stars. You are about to do it "au naturel" ... just some humour to ease your pain and frustration.

Alastair - no problems. Looks like you should be able to take just the OTA and shoehorn it onto the mount. You may not even need the rings. But we can figure that out.

We arrive back into Dublin early morning on the Sunday. Given that we'll be a tad tired no doubt, might be best if you give me a call some time after lunch and figure out logistics.

I'll pm you the mobile number.
Cheers

Dave

Do you have house insurance?
Most house insurance policies would pay for such accidental damage.

Yes. It is imperitive that you insure your scope and make sure it is ALL RISKS. This means that you are covered for all accidental damages which happen either at home in the back garden or even out on a dark site. There is a small excess but it costs me just €30 per year.

you need to ring your insurer and make it a specific named item on the policy and that it is all risks.

I didn't have insurance that would cover it.

Thanks, Dave, for the lend of the OTA; hoping to get to use it soon.

I NOW have accidental damage insurance, specifically listing the
telescope. It cost €30 per year as Dave B. said. Thanks for
the hint.
