Scanning for Shuttle & ISS transmissions was created by Frank Ryan
For those of you with scanners that can pick up 145.800mhz fm (almost all can)
then from Wednesday (if the shuttle launches on time)
you should be able to pick up chatter from the Shuttle & ISS during the passes over Ireland
(check Heavens Above for times)
Best bit of all is that it doesn't matter if its cloudy!
I'll be trying myself so I'll report back here if I have any success.

Definitely will try this. I only have a basic antenna though, would I need a yagi or scanner antenna for this?

My brother got a scanner recently, I'll give him a call about this.

No, the standard antenna should work fine.
Something like this is all you need:

Frank,
are you including the good ole Bearcat handheld scanner? Are you able to pick up the transmissions as standard, or as Albert asked, with one of the special aerials attached?

Has anyone tried this and succeed at all? I recetly became a Bearcat Scanner owner and I am getting great fun listening in to whatever I can pick up. Of course, it would be great to pick up extraterrestrial comms. If anyone knows of any other astronomical frequencies worth listening to, lets hear them.
