Sign on the vatican observatory

Hi,

Bro. Consolmagno in his talk to SDAS a while back showed a picture of the Vatican observatory with some latin written on it. Paul Tipper (latin expert!) translated it into English!

Can anyone remember what the sign says? or even better got a copy of the photo?

Creatorem? Sounds like creator. So we have 'God the Creator'.

'venite adoremus'? Have the christmas carols started yet? Come let us adore him.

So all together - God the Creator, come let us adore him.

The other line is a little harder, but its 'The heavens declare the glory of God'.

And yes I did have valid astronomical reasons for asking!

It seems "adoramus" is Present Subjunctive Active 1st person Plural of "adoro": to call upon, entreat, supplicate, implore

Let me guess. it is the opening lines of Plalm 19.
God reveals himself through nature.
Verse 1 and 2 mentions the heavens, the day, night, etc. They are telling of God's glory, but then in verse 3, they do this without actual speech.
Verse 4 shows us that natural revelation reaches every place on earth, therefore it reaches every person.
Verse 5 is saying that natural revelation is dominating and powerful. It cannot be ignored. You have to respond to it.
