Interesting. I just got an A.I. email advertising their 1550 newsline.

Unfortunately, nowhere in the email does it tell me how much it's going to cost to call that number.

According to the RegTel (Regulator of Premium Rate Telecommunications Services) code of practise;

www.regtel.ie/code_7.htm
7.1.1 The Service Provider must ensure that the charge for calls from fixed telephone lines to each Service is clearly stated in all promotions. Prices must be noted in the form of numerical price per minute, (inclusive of VAT) or the total maximum cost to the Consumer (inclusive of VAT) of the completed message or Service. Promotional material must state that calls from mobile phones normally cost more.

You'd think after the text spamming incident A&S Ltd. would be a bit more cautious about their marketing activities.

Everyone in Ireland buys Meade, and they all buy them from Lidl.

With all these allegations, and backing up of mal practice, is anyone actually going to enquire about how A&S Ltd is doing 'business'? Either for the hell of it, out of jealousy, spite, or simply to have the majority of Joe Public know how Mr. Moore is in the habit of conning (yes, I believe that word IS appropriate) them?

I would - if I received any of the above ill-advised phone numbers or spammed voicemails, but I was sensible years ago not to fall for Mr. Moores ploys as an astronomer. Now, he's just a bad businessman.

I doubt it... going to do anything about it?

Sent a reply, reminding them that I had asked for my personal details to be removed from their system on Nov 11th after the phone spam and did not get a response email, and said I'll be bringing it up with the Data Protection Commissioner since they clearly havent deleted my details (it was sent to my work address, not to the ilpac address btw). Depending on the reply I get back I'll decide whether to persue that or not.

It's not so much the email thats the problem, we all type the wrong address every now and again. But after asking for my details to be removed and still getting emails, shows that they didn't delete details which is against the law. I'd rather them email me an apology and telling me that my personal details (eg work email address, as distinct from ILPAC's) are removed and that this will not happen again.

Cheers,
~Al
