Then it will Keep going towards the orbit of Jupiter, it's gone past us.

So, considering where we (planets, that is) will be on Jan 30th, technically, we'd not only be getting a front row seat, but also a direct view should there be something optically powerful enough to be able to capture it... shame it's only a 50 meter wide asteroid... :D

If a collision does take place, the explosion that follows could be like the famous 1908 Tunguska incident.

But only if it happens at night and its not cloudy. I'm sure old Hubble will be watching though and the images will be all over the tv.
