i'd say most of the accomdation within walking distance has gone by now. i had to ring around 2 or 3 places when i was booking and that was 2 months ago at least.

We booked in to the County Arms just a couple of days ago, although that might be pushing the definition of "walking distance" (I'm not very familiar with Birr).

No, it's just a short walk.
I had to stay there myself one year.

it is about a 5 minute walk, depending obviously how fast you walk. i am staying there myself.
