Does anyone else feel like a Peeping Tom? was created by Crescent
I have only being observing the night sky for about two months now. I have 15*70 binoculars and spend some time out my back garden. Even though I’m in a housing estate I can get the back garden fairly dark by turning off the sensor lights and house lights. Things are going quite well except for the fact that I feel like a Peeping Tom. In the late evening Orion is just over the houses to the back of me. I’m sure it looks like I’m looking in the windows. Does any one else get this feeling or even been challenged by a neighbor.

No....never.....
I'm afraid it goes with the territory. Always good to invite the neighbours around when there is a half moon or something to look at.
Frankly, it doesn't bother an old pervert like me.:silly:

Ah no problema at all, just mention it to the neighbours as john says, show them something cool in the night sky, they won't mind after that, and also use the moment to persuade them if you can to keep the lights off

It is something that crossed my mind also....
In the manual for my scope, it says it's not able to focus within 200 feet, thats my way out if anyone said something to me about it.

2 funny stories, one of which I haven't told here before.
The first was hearing the phone ringing inside the house at about 3am and legging it in to answer it before it woke the whole house up. It was the neighbour behind our house informing me that there was an intruder in my back garden with a red light. "Yeah, sorry about that mate. That would be me!!"
The second story was me inadvertently becoming a peeping tom. I was in the back garden about 2am and a light came on in a bedroom of the house behind and one over. Didn't give it any more thought as I had my back to that direction anyway, so the light wasn't bothering me. That was until I wanted to look at something in the NE. I turned the scope around and obviously my attention was drawn to that bedroom light again as I was now observing in that direction over their roof.
Well it seems the occupants of that room had a lamp low down on the far side of the room......
Which cast shadows/silouttes onto the window blinds.......
of some bucking bronco cowgirl.....eh action
I decided to call it a night lest I be accused of anything, should anyone look out the window and see me in the back garden......and for no other reason
