Your thinking about this too much Dave!

I did once hear my next door neighbour at 3 AM on his knees at the
back door of his (just ex wifes house) begging to take her back.
Brookside would not get a look in.

Speaking of peeping toms I had an experience last January … remember all those sub zero nights in succession. Despite the severe cold it was a particularly good night for observing and it was about 1;30 a.m. with all asleep in my house and lights out in all neighbouring houses and in dead silence while my eye was glued to the eyepiece studying fuzzies that I had never seen so clearly ….. I heard it. Animal noises down the garden somewhere and coming towards me. I live in the countryside and have a biggish garden that backs on to miles of open fields. Was it dogs, foxes or badgers? They might not see me in the dark until the last moment …. Would they attack through fear? I whistled, clapped my hands and stamped my feet as I backed up to the door.
I can only guess that it was a couple of feline peeping toms!

You must have felt like a bit of a Peeping Conn.

In order to protect yourself from the dangers of wildlife, I think you shoud invest in an observatory.
Sounds like a good excuse to me anyway....
