ISS & The Garda

It orbits about 27.5k kmh. I just spotted it as a nice surprise while out for a quick smoke. The wife just said to me: "you know there's two gardai hiding on the dark side of the moon in their speed van"

Haha. I thought best to leave it go. When I start talking about astronomy, she generally loses the will to live!

Actually, come to think of it: what experience do others have regarding their other half and their interest, or lack of, for astronomy? I'd love to be able to have a chat about cosmology or just have a viewing session with the wife. Unfortunately, she has absolutely no interest in it.

I have the same experience. My wife has no interest.
That does have its advantages. No problems with heading out overnight and crawling back into bed in the early hours of the morning or going away somewhere for the weekend to look at heavenly bodies-no questions asked!. How many husbands can say that? :laugh:

Well my wife Valerie is only too delighted to come out observing with me. Before I married her, a friend of mine asked me what would I sacrifice? I said the telescope as it was a huge one. But my Valerie said no way are getting rid of any telescope. So I replaced it with what I now have, and I think you all know the rest! She often comes down to Sandymount with the Dublin Sidewalk Astronomers.
