Hi,
The IAS has organised a special free event to mark the festive season for amateur astronomers. The location will be Dunsink Observatory at 7:30pm on the 5th December. The speakers on the night are John Flannery and Ian Saunders who will talk on Meteorites and Comets. The night will include a quiz with a twist, a short film and weather permitting a little observing. Light refreshments and mince pies will be available.
The night is for amateur astronomers and their friends. The IAS would specially like to extend the invitation to our many friends in IFAS and in the various astronomy groups. It is hoped this event will be an opportunity for like minded people to refresh old friendships and make new ones and we look forward to seeing you there.
To help us establish numbers in advance bookings can be made via this link:

There will be plenty of Mince Pies Aubrey. There will also be a big open fire, why not bring chestnuts! Do I hear Christmas music coming on.

You can now find details of both lectures on the night on the IAS Website.

It looks like being a very interesting and fun evening, with the reception and refreshments in front of a log fire. Booking are coming in steadily. Places are limited, make sure to book using the link.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Thoroughly enjoyed the evening, great talks, lots of laughs at the quiz and a view through the Grubb refractor. Thanks to all who organised the event.
