It looks like there are all sorts of weather predictions at the moment for both Wednesday and Thursday but the night of August 12/13 seems to be our best bet presently.Â
North county Dublin for Wednesday night is showing a clear patch on www.windy.com
Thursday evening our potential site outside Laragh is showing clear skies from 11pm to about 3am.
As Paul mentioned, we can study a charts a bit more on Wednesday.
We had foggy conditions last year in Dublin city for Perseid maximum but www.windy.com showed potential clear spells around the Wicklow Gap. We plumbed for the car park at Turlough Hill and were rewarded with great skies until moonrise - the elevated site put us above the surrounding mists. Driving home we encountered the fog just a few miles from our observing site and were immersed in it the whole way back to Dublin.Â

Oh, the fickle Irish weather
All the various forecast models are now pointing to Wednesday night being clear for the Perseids in the Dublin/Wicklow area and Thursday experiencing cloudy skies until around 1am. That could still change though!
So, is anyone on for going out on Wednesday evening somewhere? I'll have a look at the map later as the Sugarloaf Car Park might possibly be too light-polluted for photography due to looking NE over the coastal towns. I was thinking Five Mile Point on the coast but it could be windy there. We can keep an eye on the forecast models tomorrow though.
