I got a view of it afterwards, Venus was clearly visible next to the moon in broad daytime with the naked eye with the sun very high above the horison, this was about 6pm,

Cleared up here about 9pm. Venus had moved quite a bit to the west of the moon but it was still a nice sight.

Mia - how did the dog sacrifice go? Hope it wasn;t too messy.

If you need another dog, give me a shout. Ours just dug up the potatoes - so you're welcome to her (hope she can't read  )

Dave, Kieran is blaming me over on the EAAS for the bad weather! According to him I should have sacrificed TWO dogs instead, ah well, next daytime occultation I'll remind you about your kind donation of the spud loving dog!

Guys,

I have a weakness for dogs! How about leaving our four-legged buddies alone and just coming to Greece next time. You can even bring Seanie if you have to.

Comrad Seanie,

I have the excursion to Russia next year for the eclipse and the one to China the year thereafter. If I push matters at home, eventually nothing will happen.

Patience my friend ... things will work out.
