Was told tonight that some astronomy bloke called David was on the radio promoting something in Birr over the weekend.
me: "David Moore?"
them: "Yea thas his name!"
me: "Did he mention the starparty?"
them: "nah just something about a big telescope and lots of people going to see it"
So eh, was DM doing whirlpool PR or something? Sounds surprising.
Cheers,
~Al

Funny you mentioned Br. Guy Consolmagno, I was only talking to Dave Bell last and he confirmed to me that he is coming next year to give a talk at the WSP.

It's going to be hard to follow on from the quality of the last couple of years, and particularly last weekend. Can we make requests? How about Phil Harrington? Or perhaps Chuck Wood (of S&T Lunar Notebook fame), or maybe Guy Consolmagno (co-author of Turn Left at Orion and an astronomer based at the Vatican Observatory)? Or even Tim Ferris, just so Val can get the author to sign his copy of Seeing in the Dark!

Woo-Hoo, holy shit! Err, urm, uh ...woops
Guy and Dan have already done an interview for Arcturus for me, but it probably won't see print till Jan/Feb - we're victims of our own success in the Leading Lights series. I actually have enough interviews in the bag to get us through to May/June 2005. When I ask people to give interviews they usually get promised copious amounts of free Guinness - looks like I'm going to have to make good on my promise next year!
Well done to Dave Bell and all at SAC/WSP.
