Some very sad news.

Guys,

I just heard the very sad news of the death of Colm J. Cannon. Many of the regulars here would have known Colm. He also posted here under username 'spaceboy'. Colm was one of the founding members of Astronomy Ireland and was a member of the IAS before that. Colm's knowledge on all things relating to spacetravel and spaceprogrammes was immense as was his enhusiasm for the subject. Colm was just 38 years old.

I have no further details at present except that Colm's death was very sudden and occurred at 8:15am this morning.

As I have more details, I'll post.

May he rest in peace.

Good lord, that's a real tradgedy. I've never met Colm but I feel I know him from reading Astronomy & Space for so many years. That's a real loss to the Irish astronomy community.

My condolences as well even though I did not know the gentleman. So sad for someone to be lost at such a young age.
