22mph is too big for the 20" so I'll probably pass. Your best bet is either the second or third car park along the side of Djouce Wood. The second car park is protected to the west but exposed to the east (and the road) while the third car park is fully enclosed by trees and gives good protection from the wind. The downside is that the trees restrict your view of the sky (your horizon is quite high) and you need to move your scope from one side of the clearing to the other to make full use of the available sky.

Have they removed the bollards from the entrance from the third one?

I haven't been up there for over a year so I couldn't say. That said, it was possible to get a car in through the boulders if you took it carefully. Worst case - you can carry your scope in from the road.

David Branigan and myself are going to meet at the Esso service station in Kilmacangoue in the N11 at 9pm.
There is very little cloud and only a light wind at the moment around Bray.
We are going to check out the new Sugarloaf site first and it is not a runner we will head up to Cloon wood.
If anybody is interested, give me a ring on 087 120 4654

Ye are brave men indeed and need to be commended!
I'm half tempted myself to do a bit but the wind here is just
too strong right now.
I also had a quick look at the uk met satellite site and
I'd say the clouds will close in around 10 / 11.
Although if temps keep dropping you can scrub that.

Best of luck!
