I think most people know you as SAC though. Might be no harm to register that too? Though, I doubt any three letter domain is free at this stage. .ie addresses have really come down in price though, SAC.ie might be a nice one to grab?

We considered SAC.com but that could mean just about anything.

As it turns out
Sac.com and .ie are already taken.
I suppose sac.org or shannonsideac.com were viable others.

The issue was really the provider not playing nice
and refusing to release the DNS settings even though
I held the account name and password.
The guy who set it up initially didn't have an auto renew
option on the account and so when the time came
for renewal and no payment came they locked it out.
I wasnt aware of this coz they sent reminder emails to
the account used to set up the domain.
(even though I changed the
profile settings)
So after no replys from the guy that set it up I explained the whole situation to the providers
(a few times!)
Thier 'solution' was for me to
pay a further years regrestration fees
so as to allow me access into the settings to release them.
(which would have taken me a whole 30 seconds or so)
Pay you a years sub for 30 seconds!? - Yeah right!
They did however try thier 'best' to 'help' me by informing me that they would have to release the
domain after 60 days if no payment was made.
(bless their hearts)
Extortion!
You could call it a legal form of cyber squatting.
Apart from all that,
the account was initially hosted with them
(I won't name them in case of lawsuits!)
It was easily the worst host I have ever encountered!
It must have been some guy with a C64 up in a log cabin in the Mountains!
The domain and hosting is now with the excellent Hosting365
and I cannot speak highly enough of them.
As for the domain name,
IMHO
Shannonsideastronomyclub is the best fit
as it is our name after all.
(anyway, c'mon! it's jut 4 letters longer!!)
