Thanks Michael - I spent a year and a half as Treasurer of an Astro Society so I have a good feel for the financial side of it and I have some good local connections who should be able to help me out with a good venue. Being a beginners' club I am aiming to keep the membership subs reasonably low so I think the hotel option is beyond the pale!

Good luck Paul - I hope you get lots of interested people. Our club started up a few years ago and we found a lovely local pub with ample space out the back for observing and no charges involved. It suits us down to the ground but if you are looking at youngsters joining up a pub may not suit!
Best of luck,

Thanks Bernie - not sure a pub would be quite what I'm looking for - one has to keep one's different hobbies separate after all Although free sounds good - in the first instance I think we'll be running on enthusiasm rather than big wonga!
Thanks again for the encouragement!

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Could any of the local schools or colleges help Paul?
