Sounds good John!
Best of luck to all in SAC with this new format.
I hope it goes well.
As I have gone observing with the lads in the Burren a couple of times, it is a fantastic dark site and it will be great for other people here to experience it.

Michael.

That is correct David. The entire event will be held in the Burren region. The committee will post up the details on the SAC and IFAS site when they are finalised.

regards
John

Hi,

There are pluses and minuses:

Dark Site. Birr has been getting steadily brighter for every year since it was started in 1987. Also even on a clear night the Demesne is prone to mist. But a few miles outside Birr its still very dark.

Losing the connection Birr Castle Demesne is a pity. Indeed, there will be no real link with the 'Whirlpool' Galaxy anymore.

Many people, particularly from outside the country, are attracted to the WSP because can visit the Birr Demesne and see the 72 inch telescope and Museum.

As it is organised by the SAC there may be other issues, such as cost of the Hall and the capacity to organise that may be involved.

Sad for Birr , I guess they will miss it when they wake up.
Best of luck with the rebirth
