Congrats Michael!

You (Irish) guys are really piling up these observatory codes. :-)

I have been out of action the past three weeks strictly due to the weather and which is quite atypical for this time of the year.

Now, tomorrow, I am supposed to have clear skies and, of course, with a nearly full moon! I will be going after Sh2-188 in Cas which represents a semi-completed result from last month.

Let's see if I finally get my photon fix.

Anthony.

Well done Michael!

Its good to see so many Irish astronomers at the crossing point of doing serious science and making a contribution to the field of astronomy. As you say the observatory code is the first step.

Interestingly enough, there was a period of amateur astronomy in Ireland that flourished for a while with new discoveries in both planetary science and stellar work leading to serious scientific papers in peer reviewed journals. Then a vacuum of many years occurred until the last 5 years. I believe that with more numbers of Irish amateurs crossing this point will lead to more scientific data through examples of monitoring asteroids and variable stars light curves and further discoveries in those areas.
