 my da is from Kilmacanogue wicklow i asked him to bring me out
to the darkest place possible i said rightout to the middle of nowhere
he said ill show you dark places son out we went to even passed roundwood
about 10 miles passed it im thinking yes im going to see the milkyway for the
first time all of a sudden the higher we go the more cloudy it gets we had to
go home.

about five weeks later you wouldnt believe it the same thing again
i been to the sugerloaf car park with the lads twice and its very good sky
out their but iv heard roundwood is truly amazing if you can get a clear night
my da,s said you can see the milkyway he said when he was my age you think
someone painted the sky with white dust in a line.

Hi Michael,
That’s the chance you take when you go up to that altitude. I remember one time I was up in the mountains and it was so cloudy; I got a call from the wife and she told me the skies where very clear back home. Sure enough the lower we got in altitude the clear the sky got. Roundwood has got very dark skies for astrophotography you are more than welcome to join us if you like .
