Well guys, we had a club observing session on Friday night and I had a good look at Venus with the 20 inch, and I can tell you it is very easy to almost persuade yourself there is something there, but no I didn't see any sign of ashen lights, I put the bright side of the planet outside the field of view and the illusion disappeared . I've taken many images of Venus over the years and never been able to bring up any sign of any ashen lights using photoshop, it would be interesting to see other ashen light images.
I had thought that ashen lights had been dismissed by the likes of Venus express and other orbiting surveyors ?

Thanks, Dave, for that. Perhaps we could see the Ashen Light, when Venus is less than 10% lit. When I saw it, Venus was 3.8% lit back in March 1993. And I have to say that a few days later when Venus was 1% lit, I saw no evidence of its appearance.

So let's keep watching. Next Monday, it will be less than 8% lit.

Aubrey.
