Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.
Thanks everyone! I'd hoped to be able to do some science with the observatory and astrometry seemed something that I could make some contribution to. So I was happy to discover that my relatively modest equipment (C9.25 & DSLR) was up to the task.
I especially need to thank Dave Grennan and Michael O'Connell for their help - from helping to understand Astrometrica and getting it to solve DSLR images to correctly formatting emails to the MPC!
