Hi All,
We had an observing session up on the hill on Saturday night, it was windy, but fairly clear.
While we were up there I got an image of the comet.
homepage.eircom.net/~sac/graphics/comet/machholz_smalla.jpg
Notice the tail seems to be back, its very faint but visible in the 11 oclock position.
This was a 2 minute exposure at iso1600, Canon 300D + 12"Lx200, it was in altaz mode and the comet was near the zenith, hence the field rotation, the comet was easily visaible to the naked eye, and easy to point out as it was very near Algol.

The comet reaches perihelion today at 1.2 AU.
So long, and see you again in 119,000 years!

Seen 20:50 tonight through 8*50 binoculars as a dim object near Polaris, last seen at the start of January when I was in Agadir, well worth viewing, just a comment re. "the other thread" reckon that IFAS does not get mentioned as much on the AI bulletin board (if they have one) as AI get mentioned here
