In was up the Tara direction on Saturday night, well Sunday morning infact looking for somewhere to do some perseid watching. I was dismayed to see that meath coco have stuck streetlights outside the main entrance:( This used to be a great observing site. I remember spending many a happy geminid night up there. The sad thing is meath coco probably thinkt they've enhanced the area!

I should also add that we found a site about 500m beyond the main entrance (just an wide area outside a farmers field). I was there for a couple of hours and although the milky way looked gorgeous, anytime the clouds rolled by you could clearly see them illuminated orange from Navan and Trim (I think). I dont remember it being that bad before. WHat I am saying is Tara is becoming lost to skywatchers anyway.
