Partial Solar Eclipse from Maynooth was created by voyager
I'm just back from observing the partial solar eclipse with Astro2. I didn't get to watch it all because my coffee break isn't that long but I did get to see about 20 minutes around max eclipse. Our PST gave us great views with two small sunspots and some lovely prominences. So nice to actually have good weather for an event like this for a change!
I just hope the guys in Turkey are as lucky!

I had a quick look in Dublin aswell. No equipment with me, just a pair of shades but thankfully a cloud went in front just in timeand I was able to see it nicely for a a minute. My brother is over with IFAS and , he said:
Just 2.5 hours to go before First Contact, and everything is looking good. İt's a beautiful crisp clear morning, with the snow-capped Taurus mountains framing Antalya bay. We've got a view of 15 kılometers across the bay, which should give us a good view of the moons shadow racing towards us at Mach 2.
So it looks like they are doing fine!!

I don't have any solar scopes so I took two sheets of paper, poked a very jagged hole in one with a ball-point pen, and held them about 12" apart.
Dang if it didn't work! Nice image of the sun with a bite out of it.
(I thought, nah, that's just the shadow of my jagged hole. But I rotated the paper with the hole, and the bite out of the sun didn't move. Pretty cool.)

well i brought my binomites to work with me so i did not need to bother with the pinhole stuff. seen from max here onwards. a fair chip of the sun missing and even a sunspot thrown as a bonus.
