was that a fireball? was created by Rayman
Hi All,
Last night, April 03 at 10.05, I think I saw a fireball, I'm not sure as I have never actually seen one before. It came from the South East and travelled North West, lasted about 4 seconds and was located midway between Ursa Major and Bootes. The item itself was quite large and from memory, I think it was orange, it had a long but fat tail, kinda reminded me of a kids cartoon drawing of a shooting star, but the head itself was round and seemed to be coming apart in all directions, it seemed to be kinda "fizzing." - What do you peeps think?
Kind Regards,
Rayman

Yep, looks like a fireball, or officially, a bollide Rayman! Your first one too! Wait till you see one on a clear and quiet night, and you will hear the faint but audible sonic boom! Wow!

Howdy,
Hmmm, MatthewC and I saw an object at the same time and location from Galway.
I had actually thought it was a Iridium Flare. I didn't catch the beginning but it was REALLY bright (about the same mag as Venus I think) and moving fast. Faded quickly over a few seconds while shooting across the sky.
Could it be the same?

Hhmmm... Rayman description of his object almost completely fits a newbies description of an (unknown) fireball. A flare wouldn't 'fizz', and also, if Rayman can confirm the speed, then automatically rules out a flare.

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
