Awesome! Sounds like another luck-of-the-draw as well, as anyone else using similar equipment under similar conditions around the same time could have spotted it too (remember the 13 year old boy who found the supernova in the Whirlpool (M51) galaxy some years back?). And, this guy even beat a multibillion dollar spacecraft already at Saturn! :shock:

Cassini first imaged electrical storms in November 2007. Cassinis instruments track the storm every 10 hours and forty minutes , as the planet rotates.
As Cassinis camera's cannot track the storm everyday , the imaging team are in contact with amateur astronomers around the world.
