Apologies if this has been noted previously, but I don't remember seeing it. Congratulations to Deirdre Kelleghan who won 1st place in the Amateur Astronomy Picture of the Day for May 2010 for a painting entitled "Goldschmidt Rays and a section of the North Lunar Limb".

Thoroughly deserved and many congratulations.

It's nice to see that sketches are being recognised above images, I for one would opt for the sketch over the ccd image, think of the time and dedication to sit at the eyepiece and record all the details that you see, sometimes on very cold nights. Sitting at a computer in your warm living room while your computer controls your scope can't compare.

Wait for the backlash.:laugh:
