Hi All
Just picked up a pair of 10X50'sfrom Lidl...First impressions
Very sturdy...quite heavy, I reckon metal construction under rubber
tripod connection
Field of view, I would guess around 6 degrees
They reckon 114m@1000m
Image quality....Seems to be very bright and crisp on trees and mountains..when in focus there is a slight softening of image towards edge of fov.
Collimation seems ok
There is a bit of reflection inside the binoculars, dont know if this will have an impact on performance.
Focus wheel is large and easily adjusted, but is tight enough to hold position..
longeye relief with eyecups(1-1.5cm long) which are firm but can be folded down.
Aluminium coating on Objective lens, Eyepiece lenses (triplet) also shows blue tint so i suspect are also coated.
Bak 4 prisms.
caps all fit. Eyepiece caps are a little loose.
They come with strong neck strap and nylon pouch, which has two pockets, a neck strap, and belt loop.
Looking forward to giving them a go at night.
Hope this helps

We're quick off the mark this morning! Picked up mine also. i'd say they'll go quick. I'm no expert but i'm very impressed with them. For €20 it's not bad, esp. since they sell 10x50's in the astronomy shop for €85.71. Maybe those ones are better or something , I dunno, but isn't meade a really good brand for this type of stuff?

I Just picked up mine too, they seem fine quality for 20quid. There is evidence of some cheap plastic mouldings on close inspection, but they have that quality feel about them that can't be left behind foe 20 bobs!
There's about 20 ~ 30 left in Clonmel.
Seamus.

Anyone been to Dublin City store yet? I won't get up to Moore St til lunchtime - hope they have some left.
[edit] Took an early lunch - they have about 30 left in Moore Street now. Nice binoculars
Now to check out prices for tripods - any suggestions where to look?

Argos seem to have a wide varity of tripods, great quality ones and not so great but i think they also sell adapters to mount binos to the tripod. I also just picked up a pair of the meade binos! I shall have great use out of them tonight if its clear!!
