Please Help Me!!!

I asked Telescopes.com could they ship Meade or Celestron scopes to Ireland, but no :!: because of policy to make money :!:

How can I get a Celestron Advanced Series C11-SGT and accessories here :

This place sells them and they have nearly $1500 off the price co theres a sale! The cheapest shipping is about $500 to ireland! So your looking at $2600 after shipping! There a supplier of celestron so they are allowed to ship anywhere!

Comet Hunter, you need to be aware of a couple of things.

1st Shipping from the US will be costly will be several hundred dollars anyway.
2nd you may well be stung for import duties such as, VAT (21%), excise duty (4.5%). All of which could make the scope cost more than if you bought it closer to home.

Then what if something goes wrong with it, you have to ship it back to the US etc etc etc. All in all I cannot in all sincerity recommend you go down that route. Look at the meade celestron dealers in Ireland and the UK. At least you know what its gonna cost and if you have a problem its much easier to resolve.

Comet Hunter - you WILL be stung for VAT at 21% - no maybes... You MIGHT get away with Duty if customs are asleep. Don't forget, duty is payable on the value of the goods (4.3% for telescopes). Add this on, then add shipping, insurabce. Now add on 21% VAT to the lot. Yes - you pay VAT on the Duty...

The shipping charges seem steep though...
