Hi Jouke.
I was passing between Newcastle West and Limerick when I saw you towing a trailer with a nice white gleaming dome on it, very nice.
I don't think the que of cars behind you appreciated the cargo
Have you decided on the base yet ?

At last (this is Ireland) some movement on my Dome structure. Today most of it was erected, to be finished next week. I let the pictures speak for themselves.
You may note that I opted for the comfort factor of a fairly high building, so I do not have to crouch inside. There will be a short concrete pier inside to be topped by a Linak DL2 movable column. For objects low in the sky I will need to step on a raised floor inside and have the scope raised on its movable column. But for higher objects (+15 degr.) the scope column can be lowered and observing can be done seated. I reckoned I am not too interested in Low objects anyway as the atmosphere is in the way. You can see the 'magnificent' seeing we have here often in these pictures! Clouded out and foggy with humidity.
I will keep you posted.

My observatory is now capped with the Exploradome. It rotates nicely.
What still needs to be done is the waterproofing of the roof section with liquid plastic, Then the concrete pier-height determined In-Situ and then the pier to be made.
I took delivery of the very sturdy and stable Linak DL2 extendable column. The DL2 to be mounted on the concrete stump with my Telescope on top. Then electricity and the observatory will be more less ready.

Seannie I will be organising a scientific drinking party for that occasion.
We will use the scope to see if the pints are ready in the local pub.
I will let ye all know in due cause.
