DIY monopod. was created by ftodonoghue
Just thought I would post this to see if there are any other wierd pieces of kit out there that have their own peculiar niche.
My DIY grab and go monopod. Cobbled together from two walking poles, with a piece of 2"X1" as a rest. This is a brilliant piece of kit. It is extendable to about 7 feet, is lightweight and can collapse to about 4.5 feet. With a few twists I can raise this to any height I want. I rest the barrels of the 10X50's or 15X70's on the wood and voila, stability. Pick up the binoculars and the monopod, head out the front door and I am observing in comfort in about 15 seconds. (Now if I could only get rid of a few street lights)

That's a very nifty piece of kit! Goes to show that less can be a lot more!

A Cataput...
Nice work Trevor, a neat idea. Sure beats an upturned yardbrush!

You put the strap around your neck, attach to a tall tree and jump........ na just kidding
You put strap around your neck, attach Bino's to threaded end of bar and hold the other end of the bar against your chest. Hence transfering the weight of the binos from your arms to your chest. This will result in steadying the binos and giving your arms a rest.
