The costs are incredible alright Dave. Plus modding a PST will not improve bandwitdh so you'd be stuck with having the full commercial setups.

By the way, SolarSpectrum have some incredible HA offerings now.

They've just added two "budget" versions of their HA filters, the Series 1.5 which has a 25mm clear aperture & the Series 1 which has a 19mm aperture. Both cost far less than their premium version and have bandpasses of around .65A down to .3A.
The resolution looks absolutely amazing.

The Series 1 will work on anything up to 1600mm FL and is 1/2 the price of the full filter.

You can check them out on www.solarspectrumfilter.de WAY too rich for my blood though!

I wonder will we ever see a reasonably priced HA filter (one which will hopefully not require power like the solarspectrum and daystar).
